AMIE request: Revised certification for beef tails from Argentina

The Association of Meat Importers and Exporters (AMIE) submitted a formal letter to the Director for Animal Health Department of Agriculture, Dr Mpho Maja, regarding the revised veterinary health certification requirements applicable to beef tails imported from Argentina.

The letter sets out AMIE’s concerns regarding the expanded FMD, BSE and vesicular stomatitis conditions and requests the technical and scientific basis for these changes. It also seeks urgent reconsideration of the revised certificate models and consideration of an interim approach while the technical review is completed.
