DALRRD has published the latest updates on outbreaks of current H5 and H7 avian influenza outbreaks in South Africa.
The updates are summarised and categorised according to pathogenicity (HPAI, LPAI or undefined). The HPAI outbreaks are discussed under point
2 and LPAI are discussed in point 5 of the document below.
5 August 2024, DALLRD Trade restrictions have been lifted on live poultry, meat and other products derived from poultry from
30 June 2024, DALRRD South Africa had a Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) free zone without vaccination prior to January
30 June 2023, DALRRD South Africa currently has four open ASF outbreak events and one outbreak event which was resolved
